I almost don’t want Derpy to have her own speaking role because it would be incredibly unlikely that they’d get BaldDumboRat to voice her.

It pretty much gives me the impression it’s just another way to objectify/male-gaze women - even fictional, non-human ones from a show for young children. It makes me sick to think what other people think is appropriate to do with characters that were specifically made to help little girls feel free to be who they wish - and that when those little girls, like my Twilight Sparkle-esque kid sister, grow up, they will have to face that same kind of objectification - as I have.
